Representative Gift of the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic

sign as artistic activism: a textile work responding to the state of culture in Slovakia. The fabric, woven with stylized national emblems, was originally exhibited as a “Red Carpet” during BDW 2018. The installation invited viewers to step onto questions of national identity and the value of design. This year, the fabric became part of the 24-hour performance “Watch Out, Culture Is Falling!”, transforming into a soft rescue surface for physical falls in front of the Ministry of Culture. The wart and gradual destruction of a once-majestic piece reflect the fragile state of culture. During the performance, organizers were forced to remove the artifacts, and the falls continued in the rain on hard concrete. The textile object will be framed and exhibited as a memento of this moment and of the ruin left by the arrogance of power.
