Starry Nights: DISS

The Starry Nights festival in 2022 was held without compromises, even though the venue was the small town of Bytča, with a population of 12,000. The theme for that year was “DISS,” a term referring to verbal attacks, often seen in rap songs, which shaped the entire communication strategy. The designers chose to use both positive and negative comments collected over the years about the festival and its programming as the main motif for the visual identity, incorporating these comments typographically into various graphic elements. The visual communication aimed to make fun of critics, haters, fans, and the festival alike. This concept is visually reinforced by a striking red accent against a gray background in the campaign’s design.
