Asimilar
The Asimilar collection articulates as stance that serves as a metaphor for acquired conformity, which shapes people’s judgment. Opinions are subliminally controlled and altered to someone else’s advantage (hoaxes, fake news, disinformation). Drawing on John Carpenter’s movie They Live (1998), the concept is both illustrated and used to guide the approach to garment design. The collection consists of eighteen different silhouettes and works with selection of denim pieces that carry the core idea. A gradual pattern assimilation unfolds within the denim category, made all the more striking in contrast to the notoriously familiar forms of classic denim pieces. A distinctive expressive element is the use of so-called tibetka wool scarves, incorporated into the garments. These were once Tuzex goods that echoed Persian patterns. Now, they aptly support the concept of altering traditional garments.
