As Above So Below
As Above So Below is a dance film that blends Romani heritage with funk and soul, celebrates artistic self-discovery, and pays tribute to four decades of African American music. The creators employ a genre-mixing style to highlight Roma culture and address the struggles against poverty and discrimination faced by Europe’s largest ethnic minority. Reflecting themes of transformation and rebirth, the credits vary at the beginning and end of the film. While the typography evolves, it remains grounded in the same foundation, symbolizing the metamorphosis throughout the movie. Additionally, symbols inspired by Romani magic were created for the film. This transformation is also represented on the accompanying lenticular poster, which shifts when viewed from different angles.
