Type of the Issue

Designum magazine has been providing space for presenting new typefaces created in Slovakia in recent years. We intend to present the typefaces and mediate their application in practice through the use in the headlines of individual contributions. This year, to maintain a certain continuity, we are returning to the student typefaces created at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava in the Typolab Studio under the pedagogical tutelage of Michal Tornyai and Palo Bálik. Although many of the student typefaces presented were supported by teaching in a shared studio, their diversity results from individual approaches in thematic and technical design. In this issue we present the typefaces by Ema Kern.
