Slovak Design Award 2025: A new year of the most prestigious Slovak design award begins

The Slovak Design Award (Národná cena za dizajn, NCD), the highest award in the field of design in Slovakia, is opening its new year! The prestigious nationwide competition, organized by the Slovak Design Center, continues the tradition of supporting and presenting exceptional works by Slovak designers. For more than three decades, the NCD has been mapping the development of domestic design and helping authors to establish themselves not only in Slovakia, but also in the international context.

Seven categories, endless possibilities

The competition is open to professional designers, students, manufacturers and clients. Entries can be submitted in one of seven categories: Fashion and accessories

  • Sports and leisure
  • Home and public space
  • Work and mobility
  • Art, design and craft
  • New horizons
  • Student design

A panel of experts will evaluate the originality, innovation, social and environmental impact of the entries. The composition of the panel will be gradually introduced during the campaign.

Who is behind the visual identity of NCD25?

This year’s visual identity was created by Barbara Kowalczuková and Terézia Denková, graduates of the Typolab Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. Their design is based on the process of design creation – silicone and plaster molds or blocks – and symbolically reveals an often invisible, but important, side of design work.
