Claudia Banz studied art history, Romance studies, and classical archaeology at the universities of Heidelberg and Berlin. She currently works as the director of the Weltmuseum Wien, as well as a curator and expert in design, art, and material culture. Previously, she worked as a curator at the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin and headed the department of modern art and design at the Museum für Kunst & Gewerbe Hamburg.
Her focus is on exhibitions at the intersection of art, design, fashion, and craft. Among her projects are Fast Fashion, Food Revolution 5.0, Connecting Afro Futures, and Retrotopia.
Her work addresses questions about the future of design, global material culture, and the role of museums in contemporary society.
