I Can’t Get It Out of My Mind: Contemporary Slovak Design in Vienna

The Slovak Design Center and Bratislava Design Week, in collaboration with the Slovak Institute in Vienna, invite you to an exhibition of contemporary Slovak design featuring the work of nine designers and design collectives. Titled Ich bekomme es nicht aus dem Kopf – I Can’t Get It Out of My Mind, the exhibition will take place from 10 September to 11 October 2026 at the Slovak Institute in Vienna.

The official opening will be held on 28 September 2026 during Vienna Design Week, of which the exhibition is an official part.

What can designers in Slovakia not get out of their minds? Which questions continually return in their work? What paths do they explore, and what challenges do they encounter?

Curated by Ľubica Hustá of Bratislava Design Week, I Can’t Get It Out of My Mind offers an insight into the diversity and vitality of contemporary Slovak design. It brings together several generations of practitioners, distinct creative approaches, technologies and new ways of thinking about materials—in both digital and analogue contexts.

The selection presents design as an ongoing process of searching, testing and examining possibilities. The participating designers are connected by an openness to experimentation, focus and a capacity to develop their practices in an increasingly complex world that affects us all.

Each exhibitor draws on a different experience and follows a different path. Some test processes and materials; others tell stories. Some combine traditional methods with new technologies, explore the boundaries of their own identity, or respond to changes in their immediate surroundings. These questions and impulses return repeatedly throughout their work.
