Costumes for the Album Drôtenky by the Band Drť
The collection of performative costumes and objects responds to the lyrics of poet and performer Zuzana Husárová for the current Drť album Drôtenky. With a compelling, critical tone, it reflects the broader context of contemporary Slovak culture and society. It draws attention to polarization and the brutalization of (not only) Slovak reality, the frustrating power of hoaxes, and the prevailing dominance of indifference and prejudice. Through a set of distinct costume “characters,” it identifies and caricatures the neuralgic points of today’s crises. Secondly, the work comments on the state of women’s rights, a sarcastic parade of women trapped in their realities, but also a memento of their active resistance.
