Ján Filípek has worked as a type and graphic designer under the label DizajnDesign since 2009. In addition to typefaces, he creates logotypes and lettering for clients, and he also teaches intensive calligraphy workshops. He is a laureate of the National Design Award 2020 for the project School Script (special mention for social contribution) and received the Tatra Banka Foundation Art Award 2020 in the Design category for the same project. He studied visual communication at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava and completed the TypeMedia master’s program (type design) at the Royal Academy in The Hague, Netherlands. He undertook internships at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków and at UMPRUM in Prague.
DizajnDesign focuses on developing high-quality typefaces that respond to the needs of contemporary typography and reflect the time and culture in which they are created, making them a compelling choice for designers worldwide. The type families it publishes explore the diverse world of typography—from text to display, from hand-drawn to highly readable serif and sans-serif fonts.
