Elena Lacková: I Was Born Under a Lucky Star

Elena Lacková (1921–2003) was the first Roma writer in post-war Czechoslovakia. Her book I Was Born Under a Lucky Star, collected by Czech novelist Milena Hübschmannová, offers a unique perspective on Roma culture and history in 20th-century Slovakia, their traditions, way of thinking, values, and way of life. The book’s designer created a typographic composition of the title complemented by an illustration by Robert Gabris. Two cover variants were produced, one for the first edition and one for the reprint. The typefaces used are Greed for headings and covers, and Suisse Works for the main text.
