The database of works in public spaces was established and managed by the Bratislava City Gallery as part of a scientific research project. The project’s goal is to present and popularize a broad range of art in public spaces from the second half of the 20th century to the present. The database is designed to be linked gradually with the Web of Art and other registers or catalogs focused on gallery and museum collections, as well as with databases of works in public spaces in other cities. The design of the umeniemesta.sk website was developed using a user-centered approach, considering the needs of both laypeople and experts during the exploratory and validation phases of user experience research. These requirements are reflected in the catalog’s functionality and the information architecture of the pages dedicated to artworks.
