UNEARTHED
The work recontextualizes ceramic production tied to the Gemer region, adressing locality and tradition in the context of contemporary ceramics. The project is grounded in research on local materials suitable for ceramic production, whose character and processability are important factors in the design process. Its concept reflects on material as a culturally significant aspect of the region. The work critically reflects on folklorism and works with local materials, elevating them to the level of décor/ornament. The objects’ morphology draws on the contrast between clean forms and the materials’ natural texture, derived from the project’s technological specifics.
