Heavy Industry

The vase, forged by harmonizing the traditional and the contemporary, carries the key aspects of cooperation and continuity. A massive yet fragile glass-blown bubble is carefully set into a strong steel structure welded from sturdy pieces cut by laser and plasma. The object embodies the coexistence of seemingly disparate materials that represent the delicate handicraft of Czech glassworks and the clean-cut technologies of Slovak heavy industries. The piece continues the author’s experimental approach from his student days.
