Mykola Kovalenko

Graphic designer Mykola Kovalenko hails from Tokmak in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region. His work focuses primarily on poster design, logotypes, branding, advertising, and packaging design. His creative path began at the local Elementary Art School in his hometown. He later continued at the Art Department of the Yenakiieve School of Economics and Management of Donetsk National University, and also studied at the Kyiv State Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts and Design.
Since 1998, Kovalenko has worked as a designer and art director at various advertising agencies—Publicis Visage (designer), FCB (art director), Adventa LOWE (head of design department), and Saatchi & Saatchi (head of the design studio).
He is a multiple winner and finalist of both national and international design competitions and festivals, having received more than 150 awards in total, and has several times served on juries for these events. He is an active member of the Ukrainian Designers’ Union and the Association of Graphic Designers, an honorary member of the Art Directors Club of Ukraine and Slovakia, and affiliated with the Czech Brno Biennial Association. Alongside his practice, he lectures at workshops and events. He founded the design projects DNK studio and DNK shop, and is actively involved in social projects, expressing his views through clean, minimalist posters. He currently lives and works in Bratislava.
